“The Knightleys music feels like new beginnings and has the almost Stevie Nicks style of writing along with the f*ck you vibes of the punk icons.”
- Heavy Metal Hippie Music
Thoughtful punk and spooky rock, haunting voices and even more haunting stories: The Knightleys’ first EP lands this autumn.
Anybody who knows or reads me won’t be surprised the inspiration is the roles we play in life and art, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and who we’re ‘supposed’ to be. Each of the three songs – being released through autumn 2026 – mix memory and imagination, with gothic and stage imagery playing a big part.
It’s about beginnings and endings, and each one in its own very different way is a love song to emergence: coming out of the confines you could have talked yourself into staying in and seeing how big your world is outside them.
“Impressive... really strong, well-structured songs.”
- – Steve Skaith, Latin Quarter
The style draws on my first musical loves – the ballads of the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac, the haunted and haunting imagery of Shakespears Sister and Leonard Cohen. Whether we’re laying to rest the ghosts that haunt us — relationships, people, versions of ourselves – or still in love with the stories we haunt ourselves with, these are songs set in the dark, and asking what it takes to find your own light.
“I think these songs are amazing.”
